Of This City: Week 1

These first few weeks of 2009 we’re going to re-examine why Discovery exists and how we’re going to position ourselves as the “go-to” church for our community. When we hear “OTC” we usually think of medication we can get “over the counter” but OTC means something a little different for us. Come find out what it is this Sunday at 10:10, but catch up with last weeks message if you missed it.

WOW !!!!…I had no idea of what I was about to see and hear in this video of Discovery church. As a matter of fact, I can’t remember ever seeing and hearing anything quite like it. Thank you for posting this on your website, it will be viewed again and again. This will be a great tool, demonstrating the heresy in the so called church planting movement that is sweeping the country. I know, your eyes just got a little larger when you read that, but, anyone that refers to God’s word as a “stinking thing” as Jason did in this video needs to get an honest job and leave preaching to someone that is qualified. He also mentioned a former teaching on keeping the Sabbath day, which should be a red flag to anyone that knows anything at all about the Bible. The Sabbath day is pertaining to the Law program given to the nation Israel and not the Church, the body of Christ, We are under Grace, not the law (Romans 6:14)….again in this video there was a slight mention of Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved……..that doesn’t apply in this dispensation of the Grace of God…we aren’t saved by HIS name, we are saved when we trust the Gospel…1st Corinthians 15:1-4, Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again the 3rd day, the name of the Messiah is Israel’s issue, not ours.I watched this stinking video waiting to hear anything that could be percieved as edifying, to my surprise, there simply wasn’t anything at all, none, nada, zip, nuttin. Shame on somebody, no wait, shame on everybody!..God quit winking at ignorance in Acts 17:30, so you can’t blame anybody but yourselves, the buck stops at your door. It’s like God never wrote a Bible (the stinking thing Jason made reference to) and nobody reads it, but allows some novice stand in the elder position and call what you are doing God’s work. Anyway, thanks for the clip, it will be valuable indeed for teaching and preaching. Keep em coming!!1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.Grace and Peace!!

Dean, Dean, Dean,Just because something (Sabbath, law, or even Jesus himself according to you) is part of another dispensation, does not mean that it has no value or application for God’s people today. Jesus never did away with the law, he fulfilled it and said so Himself “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” [Matthew 5:17] He then went on to RAISE the bar, not remove it in regards to the law in talking about murder, adultery, divorce, oaths, etc with “you have heard it said….(insert law here)….but I tell you…(insert raised bar here). If you think your Gospel is better with Jesus removed…take him out. If “the name of Jesus” was what Peter (filled with the Holy Spirit v.8) used to explain how a cripple was healed and how a person is saved…I think we’ll stick with that. The same name that Paul’s talking about in 1 Corinthians – Jesus aka, the Christ, the Son of God. He didn’t change. If I say Christ, and you say Jesus are we talking about two different people? Didn’t think so.Sorry you didn’t find anything edifying in the whole service. Sorry that you’re not interested in reaching out to This City. Disappointed actually that you don’t agree and don’t care that hurting people need help and that Jesus is the answer and He helps all. Sorry you’re not encouraged that we, as a church, are committed to helping hurting people. Sorry you can’t be part of the solution but continue to form teams and divide God’s people rather than unite them in making a difference in the world. Sorry, you just don’t get it.But at least you tried. Now may I suggest you “shake the dust from your feet” (as I’m sure you view me/us as an unreceptive audience) and move on.

Thank you Jason once again for chiming in to further demonstrate the division and offence to the Gospel of the Grace of God in which Jesus Christ gave to the apostle Paul to usward.,,,Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: …..Who gave this information to Paul?….. Galatians 1:12 For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ…..Paul received it from the risen Jesus. So, as far as your statement about the Gospel being better with Jesus removed is just…what’s the word I’m looking for?…I’ll use “ignorant”, which is not saying you are stupid, it simply means you have chosen to ignore something. Your video suggested you have taught your people to keep the “sabbath” day in which your reply acknowledges is of the law…let’s see what Paul (our apostle) has to say….Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?….the law is weak and beggarly…..Galatians 4:10 Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years…….the keeping of the sabbath day would be included……Galatians 4:11 I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain….I could post bunches of scripture here demonstrating the error in law keeping in this present dispensation…here are a few;Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. There are many more..but in order to save space, I’ll stop there.Paul says anyone teaching the law during this dispensation of the Grace of God has swerved and turned aside unto vain jangling. That isn’t where I’d want to be.(1 Tim 1:6-7) Romans 14 makes the comparison of weak and strong in the faith..the weaklings esteem one day above another….which one describes you?You mentioned Peter in your response…Peter was an apostle to whom?…Did Peter preach the benefit of the cross to the uncircumcision?…Did Peter preach a present pocession of salvation?..Nope!!Peter preached salvation and sin forgiveness when Christ returns to this earth and sets up His kingdom seated on David’s throne. If you are teaching the same thing as Peter, well, what can I say, you must think you are Israel. As to the “Jesus helps all” statement….mercy…may I ask, who taught you this stuff?..Have you ever read Romans through Philemon?..Apparently not. That statement is contrary to the scriptures and can only lead to shipwrecking people’s faith. Have you forgot Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us….Have you forgot 2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me…Have you not read 2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ…2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution….Maybe you should do a study on suffering and quit teaching Jesus is gonna fix all their booboos…Philippians 4:12 I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need…As to the dividing God’s people instead of bringing unity…the finger points to those teaching doctrines contrary to Paul’s gospel in this present dispensation…Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them…..You must be post-millenial…believing we are to make the world a better place ushering in the Kingdom according to you last statements. That isn’t our ambassadorship role…we are to present the Gospel with clarity to see souls saved and saints edifyed, function, to build the body of Christ. Helping folks is a noble task, it just isn’t what our focus should be. I would rather make someone uncomfortable all the way to Heaven instead of making them all cozy on their way to Hell.My shoes are dustfree, but at some point Titus 3:10 will take effect…but I am extremely patient.(2nd Tim 2:24-26)Have a great day!Grace and Peace

Luke 11:46 He said, “Yes, and I can be even more explicit. You’re hopeless, you religion scholars! You load people down with rules and regulations, nearly breaking their backs, but never lift even a finger to help.

There are 3 things I don’t have…1: a monkey for an uncle2: a sinner for a savior3: a Bible with mistakes in itYou cannot say that when using a “Message” bible. The passage in Luke 11 is destroyed by using a paraphrase such as in seen in Brad’s poast of Luke 11:46 which should read….. And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers.Jesus is dealing with scribes and pharisees in earlier verses, then deals with a lawyer beginning in verse 45 and continues through the remaining verses in this chapter. Not only is Chad using a perverted text, but also out of any context pertaining to this post. This is exactly what I have been dealing with concerning taking verses from it’s context and applying it however one may please to promote an agenda. That is an extremely sophmoric approach to a book inspired by God, written under the inspiration of God, perfectly preserved with not as much as one mistake in it. That is of course if you own a 1769 authorized KJB. It’s like you think it is more admirable or “spiritual” to attempt to follow what Jesus was doing while on this earth. Let’s take a look at to whom Jesus was ministering to and see if you fit in this audience,ok?…John baptized Jesus in water for what reason?John 1:31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.Jesus himself said..Matthew 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.Jesus told his discples (followers) to go only to whom?Matthew 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:and go to only who?Matthew 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.Let’s see what OUR apostle has to say about Jesus earthly ministry..Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:Need more?….to save space, read Romans 9:1-5 in a real Bible, the KJB!Now ask yourself, where do you fit in these passages?….let me help ya, you don’t fit in any shape or form.Now. let’s look back at what has been posted already. Who is the person laying on the burden of law keeping by observing a “Sabbath” day?…answer, Jason. And who is standing fast on Galatians 5:1 attempting to untangle the religious dogma being imposed on the audience of Discovery church, entangling them again in a yoke of bondage?…that would be me!So if you think Christ’s earthly Messianic, Davidic Kingdom ministry includes you….then you are in no doubt what Paul describes in Romans 11:28 as the “enemies of the Gospel”…..It’s amazing what you can learn when you 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. You might even be able to quote more than John 3:16 and a couple other verses. You might actually stumble into the Christ’s heavenly ministry to the Church, which is His body, given to ONE apostle for this present dispensation of the Grace of God, Paul. What a concept!..to actually be a Bible believer the way God intended.Grace and PeaceGalatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.PS…might be a good idea to read Galatians…it is a book of correction dealing with Israel’s performance system…the law.
