Everybody else in the blog world seems to be buzzing as people down south get prepared for snow… We aren’t suppose to get ANYTHING here in g-vegas…
WAIT!
As I write this – Jason’s blog just popped up in my google reader! He says a winter storm warning was just issued for pitt county. It said that 2-4 inches of snow are to be expected when the snow switches over from rain around 4pm.
Last year we had a dusting one morning, but changed to rain before 11 am and melted everything!
Jason has not been in North Carolina long enough. Doesn’t he know that a chance of a dusting shuts school down for the day. If there is any accumulation like this warning says… school will be shut down for a week! We aren’t all fancy like the Minnasontians with there fancy inventions like snow blowers and snow plows. Jason said for us to get out our snow blowers…. what the heck is a snow blower – and – does he actually have one?
It hard to believe that it is 5 days til Christmas…
I have stocked my cabinets with Christmas Tree Cakes because I will be here in G-vegas until late Christmas Eve after Discovery’s Christmas Eve Service.
From what I have heard, this is really going to be a very interesting Christmas Eve Service. Even for a creative church – this is going to be very unique!
I recently tested out google video after seeing fellowship move in that direction with their “watch now” section.
Check it out…
Special shout out to Todd Wallace! He stayed late at set up last saturday to help me get the set together for the upcoming series. If thats not enough to deserve the “Discovery Hero” title… he came up with the idea to have a light in the podium behind the cross (you have to see it to understand). The set look and worked great! Thanks Todd!
Well actually its THANKSGIVING… but for me I start my Christmas right about now anyway. Tonight I downloaded 66 Christmas songs to start brainstorming for the upcoming series “So this is Christmas?” and get my Christmas idea Gears turning for the upcoming Christmas Eve Service.
Here are some music selection highlights…
The Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping. This song has HIGH popularity (surprisingly) on iTunes. Spice Girls have also remade it. I originally heard it on XM Radio 103 Holly.
Pop Christmas – Everything from Jessica Simpson to Christina Agulara… Destiny’s Child to She Daisy… The she daisy comes from Fellowship Church.
Classics – Johnny Mathis to Bing Crosby… Nothing like classic Christmas music incorporated into media. You see it all the time in movies.
Modern Classics – Faith Hill to Vanessa Williams… Where are you Christmas is WAY better then Christmas Shoes Speaking of NewSong –
“Christian” Christmas – Amy Grant to Michael W. Smith… NO NEWSONG – Christmas Shoes makes me PUKE! Oh yea – I also found a little Relient K. NOW THATS AWESOME.
then the CHRISTMAS POWERHOUSES!
Trans-Siberean Orchestra… Saw these guys in Concert last year. AMAZING. They are coming in late December to Raleigh… May go see them again.
Manheim Steamroller… I want to see these guys but they only came to Greensboro. I think I missed it.
I am sitting here at the Boy and Girls Club! We are planning for next year. We have 2 MacBook Pros and 2 Macbooks. There are some Xtreme Thinking going on!
I don’t think I have ever had a busier October. It is so busy I can only list a few points!
– I just got back from Catalyst with the Discovery Church team. IT WAS AWESOME!
– I got back just in time on Saturday to get to the ECU vs UCF game! It was the best college football game I have ever attended!
– I still haven’t totally regained my voice yet!
– Busy week ahead to catch up from taking a few day off for Catalyst.
– Discovery this morning was GREAT! Alot of new faces in the crowd.
– A ton of ECU students today. Too bad next week is fall break and few of them will be back.
– Next week Discovery is LEAVING THE BUILDING. No we’re not canceling church! We are just taking Church out into the Community!
– Several first time guest told me they were excited about serving next week!
– Busy day ahead! I need to be more like Perry, and become a morning person. I don’t think it’s going to happen!
After three weeks with our guest church Integrity Baptist, Discovery is getting back to normal. Next week we will be kicking off a new series… The DNA of Discovery. Here is the preview –
A lot of surprises next Sunday. You will not want to miss it!
