You can also follow by going to my twitter page www.twitter.com/bradchristian Twitter also updates all of my facebook statuses… so you can see the updates there even though it is a little weird because they put my name before each update.

In Denver!

Well… Winter Park Actually!

It was dark by the time we got here, so I will probably be blown away when the sun comes and I see the mountains. We went over this one mountain pass today that was so high there is actually STILL SNOW! I also learned that there is some sort of tree line on these mountains. So the tops of the higher mountains are bald because they are too high for trees to grow on.

So I am going to continue to “Tap the Rockies” tomorrow, but it will be pretty much all work – not much play.

Here is a pic of me on the huge plain from Greenville to Charlotte. I was worried about the propellers! I was going to post it when I was in Charlotte, but I didn’t have time.

The Adventure Begins…

Thanks to the City of Greenville and Pitt Greenville Airport, I am blogging from outside the security gates of Greenville Airport. I am getting ready to get on my flight for Charlotte that will connect me to Denver.

This Airport is a trip! I did have the random memory when I pulled into the airport of the movie “We are Marshall.” This is the airport that the team flew out of on there way back to West Virginia.

My flight departs at 11am. It is 10:17 am and the TSA officials are just now arriving at the airport! I wonder how long I should wait for them to open up before I go through security…

…It is now 10:24 am and I am through security. My bag got pulled for because it was suspicious. I think it was my zoom lens attached to my Canon Rebel SLR camera. Did not take too long obviously. Just glad I didn’t have to do the awkward “male inspection.” I only have to do that when I travel with my brother. He uses a CPap breathing machine to sleep, so he carries it as his cary on. So every time we go through security… its the awkward “male inspection” for everybody in our party.

I really would like to wear sandals when I fly, but all that walking in rainbows kills my feet. It is very hard to get my shoes on and off. I have learned that my belt does not set off the metal detector. That helps but the cow hearding process through security is weird with all of these people running around barefoot.

Randy was right – I will be walking on the tarmac to get to the plane, but they have a rolling ground level tunnel to keep everybody on track.

They are beginning boarding! I will talk to yall later. They are calling people without an intercom!

Loving YouVersion

I am absolutely falling in love with YouVersion. It is from lifechurch.tv – the same people who came up with the idea for One Prayer (The series that starts this sunday). I have already been using it as a part of my devotion/quiet times. I am thinking about using the journal feature. Users can also contribute thoughts, links, images, and videos to the community section.

I came across this video while I was reading Romans 9.

I give two thumbs up!

Wow…

There are so many lessons that I can draw from this… Especially if you have ever watched the MTV show Super Sweet Sixteen. Can yall come up with any lessons from this?

I finally gave in…

I now have Twitter! At first I did not get what it was… I am still learning. It really is genius and easy to use. It integrates with my facebook and blog. I can even get updates sent to my cell… I don’t know if I am down for that though. I think I will just set it up to send updates from my cell.

If you do not have a Facebook and/or Twitter… GET ONE NOW! Myspace is dead… get with the times.

The view from our house!

Things are going great! I visited the “strip.” Its like the mountain edition of Myrtle Beach. I was going to say the country version of MB but both places are pretty dern country! Yee Haw… They have a summer project here though… I don’t know if I could do that one. I guess I am not a mountain person!

*technical note – The picture was created in photoshop using 4 different pictures that I shot this morning.

Lighting 101 – Part 1 – Haze

Since Davey has his pedal blogs… I feel that I should start a series of post laying out the basics of lighting. You might learn something that you didn’t know.

Part 1 – What is Haze?

Whenever is lighting is used in a professional setting an agent has to be added to the air in order for beams of light to form. It is very similar when light beams come through your blinds and you can actually see the light beams reflecting dust particles floating through the air. The dust floating through the air is not enough for you to be able to see the light beams from spotlights during a concert or show, so a more dense particle must be added to the air.

When you hear the word “Fog Machine” the first thing that comes to mind is a haunted house. Fog (especially low lying fog) is used in haunted attractions to create a “creepy” environment. Fog is very thick and sometimes hard to see through – especially under the proper lighting conditions. That is why it is so popular in those attractions, but fog is actual the foundation in the lighting world to create “lighting effects.” Fog in the air basically allows colorful light beams to form. This allows the viewer to see lights move and change colors. The use of fog is very popular in Nightclubs. Nightclub environments are very dark, and the thick light beams that form work well with that.

The only problem with fog is that it is so thick that you notice it. It very much like atmospheric fog. The thicker it is – the hard it is to see through it. Fog looks very much like smoke – so the natural reaction is for people to start coughing when they see it. Fog is water based so it does NOT make you cough, but spray alot of fog around and people will start coughing due to the “smoke.” That is why in the theatrical world most plays and concerts use an alternative called haze. Haze is oil based instead of water based so the particles that are put out by a haze machine are much finer then the water based foggers. The particles are so fine that they are only seen in light beams. The surrounding areas can be “hazed” without the average person knowing it.

John Piper is Bad!

With the heavy discussion going on below… I thought I would lighten things up with one of my favorite you tube videos. Yes John Piper is bad.

This is something we all can agree on that we are inherently bad. We have all fallen short of the glory of God. So yes indeed John Piper is BAD – We all are!
