Merry Christmas!!!

I hope everybody had a good christmas. I went from having a noncamera phone to my new smart phone thanks to Santa! Its the new samsung delve. So far I have been enjoying it. I will be back in Greenville by saturday. Have a great rest of Christmas day!!!

There is no such thing as Hell!

Seriously… You don’t believe in hell. Hell is not a reality. If people do not know Christ, well nothing is going to happen to them.

I know that you are thinking right now that I am out of my mind. “Of course there is a hell. What the heck are you talking about?…”

But seriously, I feel this is what we truly believe sometimes. If we truly believed there is a place called hell don’t you think we would live a little differently? Do you think we would be able to live with the idea that “Hey – its okay that person doesn’t know Christ.”

I know that most of us are afraid of starting up a spiritual conversation, or using an invite card to invite somebody to church. It could make the situation awkward right?

What has me thinking about this is this video that Jason posted on his blog.

It truly disturbed me. It reminded me of how many days I don’t fully embrace reality.

How much do you have to hate somebody to not start up a spiritual conversation? How much do you have to hate somebody to not give them an invite card? How much do you have to hate somebody to not share Christ’s love?

Now unfortunately part of our problem is how we have been shamed and embarrassed by street preachers and TBN. We don’t want to come across looking like an idiot. I agree! -but- If you are Polite, Honest, Sane, and caring enough to share – thats all you need. Crazy street preachers aren’t caring or sane. Some stuff on Christian TV is not polite or honest. Non-Christians can see right through that and see the hidden agendas. If you are polite, honest, sane and care enough to share – then you actually have the opportunity to share with people how God loves them and wants to know them personally. You can share how we are imperfect and that imperfection separates us from God. You can share that Christ is the only thing that can clear away the imperfections and connect us to God. Then finally you can share that they can have a personal relationship with Christ and experience His love and plan.

Think about it… what do you really believe?

Behind the Scenes: Production on a Budget

Last Sunday I have to say the production team at Discovery did an amazing job. We went from cabbages to christmas in a week. We did introduce several new elements to the production side of Discovery this week. We have added some new “moving” or intelligent lights. They are also being enhanced with a new haze effect. The haze effect allows the lights to be seen while they are moving. We also had some HUGE presents on stage (courtesy of Claude) that were lit up by red and blue rope light.

Overall I think Sunday was pretty cool. Hopefully the production at Discovery will continue to improve and continue creating environments that help connect people to Christ.

Production can get really expensive… fast! Fortunately at Discovery we have had several equipment donations that have help our production surpass what we may have normally been able to do.

Discovery has purchased our:
Six Ellipsoidal Spots
5 Dimmer Packs (They dim the house lights, stage cans, and spots)
Light Stands
Light board
4 Tri-North LED cans
Rope Light

Some of the “effect” lighting has been donated:
4 par cans (they created the red background Sunday)
2 intelligent scanners (the moving lights)
Haze Effect
LED light strip
Christmas Tree

If you would like to help continue to improve DC production we have several opportunities for you to give items that are on our “Wish List” this Christmas. Most of these items are related to improving the video production at DC. Contact me if you are interested.

Once again – Thank you to everybody who helps make Discovery Production happen! If you are interested in joining Discovery’s Production Team – contact me or show up on Saturday Evenings at 6pm for set up.

Sunday Night Wrap-Up!

I had to get a Sunday night wrap up out… even though its technically Monday (as always)…

-Great day today at Discovery
-Kicked off a new series called “Presence”
-New set today. I thought it looked amazing!
-Claude did awesome with the huge presents on stage!
-Santa brought DC some new intelligent moving scanners and haze…
-The band went old school today – but I loved it.
-No One Like You is so fun to Illuminate… Crowder reference anyone?
-I think some people were really challenged how they are going to spend Christmas – Literally!
-Jason really casted some vision today about some future global partnerships.
-I need to start praying for the big Christmas offering.
-I am getting really excited about this year’s Christmas Eve service.
-It will be something that you can invite your “guy” that you always want to invite to church, but its always awkward to.
-Remember to use your Presence invite cards. They work for both Christmas Eve and Church!
-I talked about this in the new countdown video “The ten ’til”
-I got more feedback about that then I did about the new set and lighting!
-I guess I am always back on the control board and have never done announcements or anything.
-I am used to being on camera… all part of being a comm major. Not really exciting after awhile…
-Exam week is this week…
-I am thrilled… I feel really good about them, but I can always tell when people are praying for me.
-Here are a few pics from today…

Stuffed!

I am literally about to pop!

I think this has something to do with it…

Yes… that is two turkeys (one fried-one baked), traditional stuffing, cornbread veggie stuffing, green been casserole, crock pot mac and cheese, corn, squash, collards, ham, sweet potato casserole, corn bread, bean salad, pot o gravy, plus dozens of yeast roles. Oh yea… did I mention there is a two more tables of desserts and drinks. Lets just say that every person had there own pie and or cake baked for them.

I think I am going to sleep well tonight!

Hope everybody had a good thanksgiving. I am looking forward to the ECU game tomorrow. I am bringing my family up to sit in the Student Pirate Club section! ARGH! Don’t tell -but- Purple Beard the Pirate is going to be making an appearance at Tomorrow’s Game! ARGHHHH!

Hope yall had an awesome thanksgiving.
