Unfulfilled – Week 2

This is the first test of some new rendering we are doing before uploading video to google video. The video used to be uploaded raw, but it took forever! The Easter Message was uploaded raw and is still rendering! I was able to do this very quickly. Enjoy Jason’s message from this week!

Happy Day – Discovery Style

I saw Jason’s blog today! I thought I would make a response that had a little move discovery feel to it. Even though I liked the lighting in Jason’s clip. Enjoy!

In the Zone…

It has been just over a year since Discovery Finished up there “In the Zone” series. I challenge you to go back and listen to the series here.

This series is absolutely amazing. It lays out how to get in the zone, and let God put his Bless on you ING.

I have been “In the Zone” using Discovery’s online giving since the first sunday in Feb. Well Saturday night I had stopped by a friends apartment at Sunchase. I had parked in what I thought was guest parking (because there was a sign that said “Guest Parking starts here”)

They are not a friendly community like my apartment complex is. They have “bubba’s towing company” randomly patrol the parking lot, and they tow without any warning! So I walk out and my car is gone.

I call up bubba, and I follow him out into the ghetto to his “fence.” He tells me that its going to be $100 cash. I was afraid of that because its this lot in the ghetto behind some bond place. So I have to go down the road a few miles to an ATM and get him his money.

I get my car out of Ghetto Hell… go back very mad. I was grumbling to myself about this $100 lost – down the drain!

The thought even crossed my mind (no joke) that I should take $10 out of my tithe for 10 weeks to make it up. Fortunately I did not…

Sunday morning I go to discovery just to find the O.D.D. small group decided to bless me with a thank you gift from their small group for a video that I am working on for them. I was blown away because I definitely didn’t expect it. So I felt a little better.

Then today I get a note from Circuit City. I thought it would be some tax thing, but it turned out to be that I have an unclaimed check!

So I went from being worried about losing a benjamin to having my whole attitude turned around!

New Look…

I couldn’t stand having the tangerine theme any longer… So I had to change things up. The jury is still out on if I like the black or not. It really helps pictures and videos pop though.

I also changed the name of the blog from “The Emerging Church” to “The Creative Church.” It seems if you wikipedia Emergent Churches it seems like they have a stereo type for compromising scripture to become more “Seeker Sensitive.” If you have ever listened to a Perry Noble sermon (or any of the guys in my blog role) you will see that none of these guys are “Seeker Sensitive” at all. Using the God given gift of Creativity in the church is an awesome thing. Creativity is definitely a God thing. We serve a very creative God.

John Piper is Bad!

With the heavy discussion going on below… I thought I would lighten things up with one of my favorite you tube videos. Yes John Piper is bad.

This is something we all can agree on that we are inherently bad. We have all fallen short of the glory of God. So yes indeed John Piper is BAD – We all are!

Not so encouraging…

My pastor friend Michael at Oak Leaf has broken his rule about commenting on critical web sites about his church. He has been very nice in his responses, but the Calvinist of the world are uniting against him. I am no theological expert by far… but there are some things that these guys are saying that absolutely scare me. I just got finished reading Romans not to long ago (I wish I would have been to the mens crack of dawn bible study).

Romans 10:9-15 says:

9That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.”[e] 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”[f]

14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!

If you boil down what some of these Calvinist are saying… they are saying that God is really mean! They say he has already selected an elect group of people that get to go to heaven, and then all the other people he has chosen for them to go to hell. I’m sorry… but I just don’t see how if anyone can call on the name of the Lord and be saved, then have problems understanding that. Anybody can receive a new heart by accepting Christ as savior and making him Lord of their life.

I am not a theologian – so I might be wrong. I just feel that fighting over if somebody was actually saved or not is a waste of our energy. I am afraid that many of these guys need to examine themselves. I am afraid they are calling out Michael because they are jealous of his ministry at Oakleaf growing while their elect flock is dying out. I don’t know these guys hearts so I can’t tell. They might really think they are ridding the world of false doctrine. I don’t mean to come off mean, but this has just been a trend that has been disturbing me lately. I could go on more and more about Puritan reading (Anybody heard of the Salem Witch trials?) and things like that, but I really don’t think this is the place. I am no expert so what I say is purely opinion. I think I am going to have to put one of those disclaimers on my blog saying “Any opinions, conclusions or hints of wisdom expressed on this site do not necessarily reflect the views of ______________, or any of the staff members.”

Encouraging…

Sorry for the delay in posting. I am working on getting the baptism edited and the Easter service wrapped on Google and DVD.

I came across this verse today… very encouraging.

1 Chronicles 28:20 (New International Version)
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.

Easter is in 48 hours

Easter has really snuck up on me this year. I am excited for the upcoming unfulfilled series. I saw the pictures on Claude’s Blog. Stage should be pretty cool. I am down in surf city for tonight and tomorrow. First time seeing the parents since Christmas. I walked in tonight and wished them a Happy New Year! Hopefully I can get them up to Greenville on Easter Sunday to check out discovery. I also want them up there so they can help me finish moving. I am moving out of my apartment of 2 years in Campus Towers into another one. Still a lot to do on Easter Week! Moving stuff, graphics, bumps, videos, and lighting oh my!

Why Video Editing is Important

Here is an excellent reason why good video editing is important.

This is from a video shoot for a DC commercial for Campus Crusade’s Daytona Beach Summer Project. I was able to cover this part of the video up with some footage from the project. It was rather amusing watching this over and over again in slow motion trying to cover it up.
